As a precautionary measure, it is recommended not to pack valuable articles in checked baggage.

Airlines are also not liable for any damage caused by a malfunction in the bag. Additionally, they will not accept responsibility for any pre-existing damage like small tears, scratches, or broken zippers resulting from overpacking or regular handling.

Reimbursement of Expenses

You will not get reimbursed for any expenses if your bag is damaged during travel.

However, in case your baggage is lost or delayed, you can claim compensation for necessary items like clothes and toiletries. This is also known as delayed baggage compensation. Ensure to keep all the receipts and submit them to Brussels Airlines within 21 days of getting your lost baggage.

It’s important to note that this policy only applies to situations where baggage is lost or delayed, not in the case of damage.

Is Travel Insurance Necessary?

As a precautionary measure, it is advisable to pack an extra set of clothes and undergarments in your carry-on bag in case your checked baggage is lost or damaged. Additionally, it is crucial to refrain from storing valuables, cash, medications, important documents, and credit cards in your checked bag, as these items could be lost or damaged in the event of significant baggage damage.

Also we would recommend to invest in sturdy luggage that is made from durable materials such as polycarbonate or aluminum. This will reduce the likelihood of damage during travel.

Take a photo of your bag before you check it in. This will serve as evidence in case of any damage. By taking these precautions, you can mitigate potential inconvenience.
